With Ambarisha Das – (One session only)

Mantra Meditation is a simple technique of meditation involving chanting ancient Vedic “Mantra” in Sanskrit language which sages from ancient India have used since antiquity to achieve Detachment and Self Realisation.

Whether you are a beginner or an expert meditation practitioner, Mantra Meditation will give you the required strength to always remain happy and manage your Stress.

The Workshop is broken into four sessions:
Session 1: Quite/Detox time (preparation time)
Session 2: Deep breathing (“Pranayama” breathing technique)
Session 3: Insight in to Vedic wisdom (Science of Self Realisation)
Session 4: Mantra Meditation (Process of Chanting)
Session’s 1 & 2 gives us the tools to calm our senses and become peaceful (Some meditation teachings will stop at this level).

But for us it prepares us for Session 3 to get an insight in to the profound teachings of ancient Vedic books “Srimad Bhagavad Gita” and “Srimad Bhagavatam” and Session 4, introduction to the Mantra which we will chant and meditate on.

By regular use of Mantra Meditation the practitioners have found great benefit in managing Stress, Anxiety, attaining lasting peace, control harmful habits like excessive drinking & smoking, healing oneself and realising that one is a Spirit Soul.

Ambarisha Das has been practicing and teaching Mantra Meditation for over 8 years. He is teaching under the guidance of his Guru, His Holiness Srila Mahavishnu Swami the disciplic succession is coming down from antiquity.

Talking Circle, Thursday 8th April 7.00 – 9.30pm, Garden Room, Grey Lynn Community Centre, 510 Richmond Rd, Grey Lynn, Auckland.

From endangered peoples to endangered worldviews: the place of indigenous being in restoring ecological health

Dr Lewis Williams, Chair, Koru International Network and Adjunct Professor, School of Public Health, University of Saskatchewan.

How and why is the recovery and re-visioning of ‘indigenous being’ relevant to all peoples and the planet today?

What does the work of ecological alliance mean in a time of Post Colonial Trauma?

What are the dreams that you hold for ecological well-being?

This talking circle introduces the Koru International Network (K.I.N.) – a growing international movement for Indigenous and Intercultural Development – and begins to explore these critical questions. KIN is a social action initiative whose main aim is to ensure the mutual flourishing of human diversity and biodiversity through the revitalization of indigenous worldviews within all cultures. At a fundamental level our global ecological situation is a crisis of relationship and perception; the endangerment is beyond people, beyond species – it is epistemological (worldview). Drawing on her own journey and work with communities Lewis will:

Discuss the current ecological situation – including the opportunities and limitations of current approaches;

Present research findings relevant to the current situation of recovering and re-visioning indigeneity within indigenous & non indigenous peoples and why this is relevant to planetary well-being;

Present the key ideas of the network and open the talking circle for your own reflections on the work that is before us.

Want to know more about KIN? Find us at: http://www.korunetwork.com
